What A Nightmare!! :)

What a nightmare!!!!
Hey Ya'll,

Well, once Walt and I got home from eating lunch, I proceeded to paint in the Mountains on my newest Lake Tahoe painting.  But before I had started, I decided to check into my blog, and realized that something changed my new blog layout!!  I tried to change it back, but was running into a ton of trouble!  So I decided to finish painting for the day first, so that I could devote the time needed to figure out what went wrong while I still had good daytime light!!

First off, I would like to apologize to any and all, who may have been trying to read my blog.  Or had clicked on my blog only to find it in such horrible condition!!  I kept trying to fix the problem, and after each attempt, I would save the changes only to find that I didn't change anything at all!!  Or what I changed only made it worse!
ANYWAY, maybe I should start from the beginning, and tell you what my problem actually WAS!!  As those of you who checked into my blog in the last week know, I changed my blog Layout to a Tropical theme, running along the sides of my blog with one of my photos at the top of the page.  It was nice and beautiful and serene!

Well, I had found a cute Blinkie on the Shabby Blogs site.  It had a relaxing phrase that blinked between the two lines of it.  I had placed it on the right hand side of the page, and it fit with the relaxing, tropical theme I had going.

Well, today when I checked into my blog.  My relaxing, Tropical theme Layout was gone, and in its place, a Layout from Shabby Blogs!!  Besides the fact that I love some of their Layouts, since my blog is Tropical in nature, it just doesn't work with the Shabby Blogs Layouts that I have seen.  Not to mention the fact, that this Layout is not one that I would have picked for myself!!  So here was my problem.  Somehow I needed to cancel out the new "unrequested" Layout, and place the Layout that I wanted back in.

I worked for several hours trying to figure out how to delete the unwanted Layout!!  Nothing I did, could get rid of it!  Until I decided to delete the Shabby Blogs Blinkie from my side panel.  Then, Voila!  It was gone.  So, all I can guess, is that somehow the coding changed and Shabby Blogs took over my total Layout, not just giving me the Blinkie!!

Anyway, it is gone and I have changed by Layout back to a Tropical theme.  However, it is changed from my original Layout.  How do you like it?  Well, I better go for now, till next time.

Aloha My Friends :)

Your blog does look great! I'm glad to hear you are painting - something I'd secretly love to do. I can't wait to get some time off so I can begin to dabble in creative things!
On the exercise front, its 8:50 a.m. and I'm going to go escape to the treadmill and work out. I'm learning I just need to do it and get it done. So, I'm just going to go get it done! :)

I'm just dead envious you've got the guts to tackle your blog at all! I'm sooo scared of losing what I've got, that I barely touch anything. Actually the only thing I'd really love to do is to use the empty space to left and right of screen - which I'd fill with photographs. I know one can do this, but I'm a total chicken....!
Well done you -

Thanks Jacquie, RC and Caroline!!

Yes Jacquie, it took me hours, but I finally got it to something that I liked! I too was terrified that I would screw it up and lose all of my saved data! But I started researching the different free template sites, and decided to try it!! I am glad now that I did!

RC, I can't wait until you get the chance to explore your artistic side too!

Caroline, I checked and I don't know how you can add anything other than a pre-made template like I have for the sides. I know that you can add an almost unlimited amount of gadgets though, but they don't fit on the far sides!

I am currently using the template called Denim, and I changed the Fonts and colors. Then I added a Layout from MySpace Layouts which filled in the sides. Here is the link to their page, http://www.pyzam.com/myspacelayouts/.

I found mine by clicking More MySpace Categories at the bottom of the left hand column, then I chose Palm Trees. My Layout is called, Totally Vaycay! Then I just clicked, Get The Code. Then click Copy, then go to your blog and under Customize, Add A Gadget (but you must Add A Gadget on the side bar, not one that goes across the top/bottom or it won't take. By putting the Gadget on the sidebar, it fills in the sides of your Template!). After you picked Add A Gadget, choose HTML, then right click in the main box and paste it in. No need to name it.

I believe the original template that I used before I changed this past week was, Herbert. Which used the entire width of the screen, and I believe, gave more space for photos. Hope this helps!!

Thanks Debi, you're a pal. I'm going to print off this comment and the one you kindly left on my blog, and show it to someone who understands these things better than me. Much appreciated that you took the trouble.

You're welcome Caroline, I hope it helped! I know that it isn't really clear what I was trying to say, so I hope your friend understands it better!!
